I wish

I wish my ego was more of a balanced companion

That it felt more temporary, less like an anthem

Not a constant cynic, such a critic

Not too wonderous, so ultra glamorous

Not so perverted, wavering or distorted

I wish

I wish my imagination was more like a wizard

One who told me jokes that were very well considered

One that isn’t too heroic or too far away

One whose blessings were rare and tended to stay

I wish

I wish my loves were more well ordered

That they would kiss me and leave a mark

And that they would linger when I doubt

And have me cracked wide open, as a general way of being

And no matter where you went you could never escape their singing

I wish
